wednesday gratitude

i am grateful for:

1) your lovely comments on my 9/11 post–makes me feel appreciated, more connected and less alone. thanks.

2) a neon pink pedicure.

3) going to toastmaster’s this week. i’ve had a bunch of monday migraines that have kept me home, so it was nice to go back and see people be so warm and supportive of each other’s public speakingness. the little applause, the encouraging head-nodding, constructive evaluations, all so nice. and now i have to write my speech for next monday! eee!

4) the coffee, almond milk, and banana smoothie at crespella.

5) in healtheir news, i’m loving kris carr’s smoothie recipe in yoga journal this month (have made twice this week already: YUM): kale, cucumber, avocado, banana, and water. plus i’ve been adding some chlorophyll from australia. so pretty and delicioso.

6) the foam roller. so good for keeping my stubborn mid-back suppler.

7) working through things that are so hard even looking at them doesn’t provide any sort of catharsis. even examining them doesn’t make me feel better. even feeling the feelings doesn’t release them. but, maybe by doing all this grunt work, my story shifts–by story i mean the tale i tell myself about a situation, my beloved perspective, born of pain–just a micrometer. just enough for a tiny sip of light to get in. and maybe that is what changes everything. i believe it’s possible. we shall see.

8) sleep.

9) seeing jj & kk & lil a–i like having people over for dinner, something i never did much of before. it’s so cozy and warm, and gives me a chance to cook something new, in this case eggplant parmesan and garlic noodles and steamed greens. all gluten-free and all yum

10) my hands–that they are strong, that they work, that they seem capably loving even when i feel incompetently hating.

11) last night’s neon pink sunset. boom!
