squash-in-the-oven gratitude

i am grateful for:

1) an amazing harvest from mccusker’s in shelburne falls of pumpkin, squash, and watermelon. the oranges and rusts and creams and reds and yellows and greens are SO BEAUTIFUL. i am now making my first squash pumpkin soup!

2) getting in some sweet baby-toddler time. kids on loan are like cats on loan. lots of fun and no cleaning of poo involved.

3) foliage, all blazing and muted, every color of the atumnal rainbow.

4) a’s green-olive & carrot tapenade. yum.

5) having avocados in the house.

6) realizing, really, again, that relationships are like soup: they become what you put into them. keep stirring in kindness and it will be a sweet brew. add some pureed sexy and it will be spicy. and giving your simple presence by tasting, tending, and for a little while, letting it just do its thing, can make it magic.

7) fridge cleaned, paper shredded, recycling emptied.

8) this tmi trick i remembered: if you’re having any bowel trouble, pop your feet on a yoga block or low stool (har) while you’re on the pot and it will angle your colon in a particularly helpful way.

9) love notes from friends. not romancey love notes, just notes full of love. thanks, h.

10) roasted pumpkin seed anticipation.

11) fall.
