grudging gratitude

i am grateful for…

1) fresh mint from the farmer’s market in my water glass.

2) ryan gosling’s (is that really his name? like a fuzzy ducky?) abs in “crazy, stupid, love.” (despite the movie title’s horrific punctuation.) and his dirty dancing move.

3) the shrink’s reminder that the breath is a place to rest. that when we focus on the breath we can take a little vacation in the present moment, where things are usually good.

4) rest.

5) finding a migraine doctor–albeit one who cannot see me until october. ah, nyc.

6) having my pulses taken at acupuncture. i love that there are multiple pulses. makes the one western one seem so obtuse and non-specific.

7) harmonious disagreement. loving each other even when we can’t agree or see from the same vantage because, thankfully, we are different people. of course i would love the freaky friday moment, where he becomes me and sees that i am totally right. and i become him and see that… i am totally right. and that’s how the ego goes. but i am blessed to have a partner who can see it all with me.

8) holding hands while disagreeing. it’s a tough task, but man, it helps the animals inside to stay connected.

9) “i am afraid if we have a dog that you will fight it.” – an (arguably accurate) assessment of me after one of my growls.

10) rain watering the plants for me.

11) post-migraine tune-ups.

12) cinnamon basil. grow it, eat it, hang it from your rearview mirror.
