three-mondays-packed-in-one-day gratitude

i am grateful for:

1) weekend escapes. trees. sky, air. sun. long walks. grass. yoga in the grass.

2) really hot saunas that open every pounding pore

3) the hudson valley. all those delicious, valley-specific fall smells. it was like i was running cross-country and sneaking to the boys’ dorms all over again.

4) scrabble. not because i’ve played it lately, but because… scrabble.

5) the gilmore girls “sad moment” music–“la la la la la, laaaaa la”

6) om making its morning classes full-length again

7) getting enough sleep

8) all my scorpio peeps. love you, little stingers. happy b-day.

9) the holiday catalog rush

10) garnet yams

11) the little dinner i just made of bread, hummus, cheese, carrots, and olives. olives! how could i have forgotten the glory of the olive? kalamata, no less. and the black olive meat that’s now under my fingernails from pitting them.

12) how happy the yankees fans are–a devotion with payoff

13) my talk with s. today. it took four years, but finally.

14) pacific mist bath scrub salt from whole foods, in bulk

15) heartman’s pictures of the bears on his porch last week. shouldn’t they be in bed by now though? or is hibernating so last ecosystem?

16) this weekend the fun of trying to remember which punk bands i used to listen to, and coming up with this: dead kennedys, circle jerks, suicidal tendencies, the repo man soundtrack in general, murphy’s law, the clash, the ramones (do they count as punk anymore?), fuzzbox, mudwimmin…. but what else? oh. black flag, agnostic front, sex pistols (do they count? i mean were they even a real band?)… man, i need to check out the vinyl at my mom’s. is blondie still considered punk? what am i forgetting?

17) the feel of uggs

18) oh, duh. the wall coming down. i remember that moment in 10th grade, quaker meeting. teachers really emotional, not getting why, but knowing that the world had tilted a little bit for a lot better.
