in-the-country gratitude

oh, baby. it’s dark out there. except for the little dots of light in the sky. what are those?

i am grateful for:

1) escaping from new york

2) lsb covering for me so i could leave before rush hour and enjoy roasted pumpkin soup with sage butter–in the country!

3) the impression of mountains in the dark

4) affirming reminders from loving friends

5) the notion of sacred activism

6) the subsiding

7) running into a high school friend’s mom at a tiny upstate bookstore tonight who i haven’t seen in 14 years and finding out that her son farms 500 acres.

8) pear season, continued

9) that sparkly promise of expectant november, again

10) b and 3ip

11) offers of company to the next test

12) that krishna das is playing an hour after i get out of my next test. hare kreeeeshna!

13) loosening grips

14) that i keep hearing alanis morisette playing everywhere i go

15) writing with the divine ms. priestess in our corporate headquarters of whole foods

16) getting to load a sesame street lead

17) walking and talking

18) organic gummy bears

19) this sweater that is synthetic but is the softest thing i’ve ever owned outside of a cat. it’s the sweater equivalent of warm soup

20) getting to sleep in a loft bed tonight. with a skylight.

21) books

22) you

aw, thanks, v.

hey, i found this really funny (i thought) line in a hilarious send-up piece i read the other day: “gratitude is the guilt of the unworthy.” (i hope it made you laugh, too. 🙂

enjoy those dark night skies, dear friend.
