i am grateful for…
1) freshly vacuumed floors
2) gold nailpolish
3) getting home on one of the last trains before the blizzard, and on two of the last normally running subways in the middle of the blizzard
4) my plants, which seem to be healthier than when i left. the moment i leave (har) is there a wild plant party that happens where they all get sauced on fertilizer?
5) clean sheets
6) apple’s facetime, the best way to stay in touch with my honey when he’s “stuck” in arizona and i’m home in the blizzard. that sounds like an ad, but really, it’s cool. i even did reiki on his hurt back (golfing in december, it’s rough) through it and i think it worked. now for the portal technology, please, so i can join him and we can step from the screen onto a warm beach. k, steve jobs? thanks.
7) jon stewart for shaming the republicans enough to help get the 9/11 responders bill through. we love youooooo jon!
8) the christmas episode of glee. omg, that is a whole lotta grinchy genius.
9) ms. d. for being the bravest cancerina. and seeing her with her pig and unicorn pillow pets with color in her cheeks makes me very very happy. begone, mutant cells! welcome, healing light!
10) beliefnet. r.i.p.
11) seeing spiderman on broadway. not because it was good. it was the most atrocious thing i’ve ever seen in a theater. but because now i’m fascinated by the craziness and it’s fun to have a little pop culture obsession. even tho it’s sad and macabre. mainly the script, but also the other stuff.
12) snowy nyc. unplowed streets, drifts up to my shoulders, white everywhere. and also the people who shovel, especially since the city doesn’t seem to know about this little nabe we live in, called park slope. so the civilian shovelers and salters are much appreciated.
13) warmth
14) percolating projects
15) my mom’s olive pasta
16) manna bread
