pre-mlk day gratitude

man alive. this whole winter thing. ok, maybe it’s the whole winter, sick-for-two-weeks-and-counting thing. trying to remember things like sunshine and kisses and softness and warmth on bare skin. ok, instead of breaking into whine (these last few days have been particularly pummeling), i will break into gratitude. because that shit is magic. really. ready?

i am grateful for:

1) prince
2) the images of that plane on the hudson, still. there’s something so metaphorically buoying about the literal buoying. (i have this print of hot air balloons filling the sky of lower manhattan, towers intact. the artist told me that she imagined the balloons rescuing all of the people in the towers. i love that image. and this landing and rescue feels like the real-life version.)
3) smiley, strong, sexy, smart, sincere, spiritual men
4) that my laundry is almost done
5) that my papers are filed, my dishes (mostly) clean, groceries bought, rooms tidied. this is a good side-effect of being cooped up.
6) going to yoga today for the first time in two weeks. only one wracking coughing attack! that aside, it felt so wonderful to do something rhythmic and familiar and moving with my body. and she reminded us to open to grace. which was lovely. so i remind you: open to grace.
7) ommmbama fevah
8) seeing l. and c. today. and that they helped me figure out how to rearrange my living room. you should come over. it’s very conversationally conducive now. i will make tea.
9) the idea of starting contact improv classes
10) that my yoga teacher played “Let my love open the door” today in class. that’s a good, happy song.
11) how re-potting a plant today reminded me of the loamy goodness of dirt and earth and roots and leaves.
12) that i finally re-potted the plant
13) the incredible lox bagel from bergen bagels today. carbs can really be a joy sometimes.
14) bsg! i missed you, starbuck.
15) hulu.com
16) tiger’s eye
17) you, for reading
18) snow-covered, glitter-raining brooklyn in the streetlights
19) love
