i am grateful for:
1) headphones and music for coffee shop writing. jai uttal is singing rama bolo in my ears and it makes it all look so much more peaceful. the laptop workers, the beige walls with air conditioning dust, worn floors, vinyl chairs, incredibly cloudy day. thanks, jai.
2) latte foam in the shape of hearts. i imagine it’s the sunset of the latte art world, but i’m a sucker for it. and for sunsets.
3) the dramatically increased police presence in my neighborhood. they may not know how to handle protesters without their ids, but boy does it feel nice to be able to use the nearest train station again more comfortably. there have been 11 sexual assaults in the hood in the last couple months. and i was just raging, “11? 11? 11?” and then, the next day, it’s like there’s a wall street protest up here. with just the cops. and they’re calm. and hopefully deterring effheads with power/sex/mom issues.
4) my new hair discovery–i can make bangs without bangs! it’s all about the sweep over. exciting.
5) forrest yoga. really liked denise’s class at bend & bloom. tough, but easy on injuries, accomodating to actual limitations.
6) running into jj & kk yesterday, just before the twins are going to get born. what a magical “before” moment, preceding a whole huge change you expect.
7) apples.
8) paths in the forest.
9) home.
10) family.
11) the salty chocolate-chocolate chip cookie at smith canteen.
12) owning up.
13) plumbers.
14) the leaves still being green.
15) choices. the choice to walk. or sleep. or work. or eat. or go to this doctor and not that one. hemp milk or almond milk.
